James has been an entrepreneur since graduating from the University of Toronto with a Chemical Engineering degree in 2000. He began his career as a co-founder of Enunciate Conferencing, and led the organization from seed financing to becoming Canada's largest audio/web conferencing services provider. While at Enunciate, James also co-founded OneConnect and was instrumental in the company's emergence as the largest provider of hosted VoIP services to business in Canada. James oversaw OneConnect's merger with Globalive/Yak in 2007; now one of Canada's largest telecommunications service providers focused on the business market.
James re-emerged in the conferencing and collaboration space founding Pragmatic in 2007. Since then, the company has become the largest conferencing services provider in Canada, while operating successfully in the US and Australia. James' current focus is on continuing to tailor a vision for Pragmatic that will ensure the company provides a rewarding workplace for its employees, as well as the best possible solutions and service to its customers.
This also involves a strong sense of responsibility to Pragmatic's local community with on-going volunteer efforts from all Pragmatic employees promoting the company's values of sustainability and humanity.
Outside of Pragmatic, James' passion for the environment has resulted in working with the real estate community in developing standards based programs for carbon management. This includes work with the Canadian Standards Association in developing the world's first ISO based carbon neutral accreditation program.
James also serves on the Board of Directors of the Empire Club of Canada.
